SUMMER IN THE CITY – Chapter Four

As we have discovered in this chapter, Max can be a bit of a handful for Charlie to look after.

Max goes peeking into Tony’s van while he is sharpening a knife and nearly scares Tony half to death!

The very next day, Max goes wondering into a delivery truck looking for doughnuts. And who has to go into the truck to get him out before he gets caught? Charlie, of course! Everything would have been just fine until… SLAM! The door shuts and the truck starts to drive away.

If you were in the delivery truck and were able to pick any kind of doughnut you wanted, what kind would it be? Add your answer into the comments section of this post. We would love to read your answer!

SUMMER IN THE CITY – Chapter Three

Fish-sitting Catherine’s goldfish Jaws, has not worked out too well for the boys. Jaws is dead. So Charlie and Max look for a replacement at the pet store.

The boys have a hard time remembering exactly what Jaws looked like, and there are so many different goldfish to choose from! They eventually purchase what they think is the perfect fish, and very carefully take it home.

Here is a question for you to think about. If you happened to be in a similar situation as Charlie and Max, would you tell Catherine that Jaws died? Or would you buy a new goldfish so she wouldn’t know? Let us know what you would do, by adding your comments.

SUMMER IN THE CITY – Chapter Two

The tent is up and the boys are packed and ready to go (even if it is only into the backyard).

The evening starts off well with some scary stories and flashlight tag. Once Max is asleep Charlie is startled by something moving around close to their tent. It is a skunk! And who else shows up? Well, Miro of course! And you know what happens next!

Eventually Max heads back into the house for the rest of the evening, and Charlie enjoys some time alone.

If you were going to spend the night tenting in your own backyard, what 2 items would you be sure to bring along with you (other than your sleeping bag and pillow). Add your response into our comments and let us know!

SUMMER IN THE CITY – Chapter One

Charlie is not impressed with the fact that he is not going anywhere exciting this summer. A “stay-cation” as his Dad put it. Charlie’s little brother Max would prefer the opposite, a ”go-cation”, and so would Charlie. Instead they will have to survive summer at home in Montreal.

To make some money, the boys create a summer job for themselves. They decide to look for lost cats, and claim a reward. Unfortunately, both Charlie and Max are realizing that it is not as easy as they thought it would be. So far all they have earned themselves is a wrinkly apple.
